The story of Brickendon

Looking through the timber gates at the end of the rose walk, the Georgian homestead features the ornate portico at the front door with three windows on the second story and zinc coated tin roof. Brickendon Estate is one of Australia’s private treasures. Hidden behind the English hedgerows is a unique experience that is rarely available to enjoy.

Brickendon features include accommodation in the delightful convict-built historic cottages and rustic recycled farm cottages, enchanting Heritage Gardens with an extensive arboretum to discover, an 1820s Farm Village complete with chapel, blacksmith’s shop, cookhouse and amazing timber barns to explore, friendly farm animals to meet, excellent fishing along the three kilometre Macquarie River frontage and a fabulous country walk through the farm to Woolmers Estate.

Located on the outskirts of the historic town of Longford, Brickendon is only 20 minutes’ drive from the Launceston Airport, 30 minutes from Launceston and one hour from Devonport and the Spirit of Tasmania.

Quiet, peaceful, and relaxing but at the same time so intriguing and fascinating that you will want to immerse yourself in the Archer family history and convict heritage of this beautiful estate.
